Brooklyn Rules

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 13 March 2008 11:10 (A review of Brooklyn Rules)

I saw a preview for this today that really made me want to see this movie, then realized I had it on hand, so I watched it, and wasn't disappointed at all. Sometimes the previews show all the best parts and the movie is a huge letdown, but that wasn't the case here. This is a good movie, emotional, intense, and well written. A little cheesy, predictable (so many films are these days), but still well worth the watch.

The Nanny Diaries

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 13 March 2008 11:08 (A review of The Nanny Diaries (Widescreen Edition))

Pure fluff. But, entertaining fluff. Just nothing really new or original here, and though some of the characters change in the end, it just doesn't feel realistic at all. Watchable, but one of those films you could take or leave.

The Reaping

Not great, but not overly horrible either. Predictable, definitely. Watchable, but not among the better horror/suspense movies I have ever seen.

The Ten

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 13 March 2008 06:58 (A review of The Ten)

This was a truly terrible, horribly awful and stupid movie. I can't actually believe I sat through the entire thing, because it was just so bad and painful to watch, which is a shame, with the cast of actors that are in it.

Sleuth (2007)

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 10 March 2008 07:48 (A review of Sleuth)

I didn't know this was directed by Kenneth Branagh, and I knew nothing about this film at all when I took the movie home. I really liked it. Cain and Law make an excellent team and play their parts very well. Even though the outcome is somewhat predictable if you are paying attention, this is a great movie that is really well done, and the predictability of the movie isn't (as it is in most cases) a bad thing.

No Country for Old Men

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 10 March 2008 07:44 (A review of No Country For Old Men)

An excellent movie, full of suspense and action. Lots of blood, death, a great story, excellent cast and acting. I really enjoyed watching this movie, and was disappointed I had to pause it to go to work, but I resumed watching it as soon as I got home. Definitely a movie I will want to watch again.

Across the Universe

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 9 March 2008 06:42 (A review of Across the Universe (Two-Disc Special Edition))

I was enjoying this film until the "I Am the Walrus" scene...and the next 20 minutes or so after that were quite annoying and completely unnecessary to the story. The fact that this is a musical was all that really kept me watching even after seeing all the unnecessary bits, but I wasn't blown away by the film at all.

August Rush

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 9 March 2008 06:40 (A review of August Rush)

If you put aside the fact that the story is unrealistic, this movie is enjoyable. It has a good cast, good acting, and great music, and is completely watchable, even if the story is totally unrealistic and more like a fairy tale than something that would really happen.

Planet Terror

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 9 March 2008 06:37 (A review of Planet Terror - Extended and Unrated (Two-Disc Special Edition))

This was totally awful. I sat through it with a friend, though we both thought it was completely stupid. I liked Death Proof, but this one was just pure crap.

Hitman (Unrated)

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 7 March 2008 05:50 (A review of Hitman (Unrated Edition))

Disappointing, for sure. Not as good as I thought it would be when I saw the trailers, and the music that I had heard was so awesome in the movie....really wasn't. Good action scenes, I guess, but not much else that is spectacular here.
