Rendition

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 27 March 2008 07:52 (A review of Rendition)

I knew nothing about this film when I picked it up, choosing it solely for the actors. It was a great film, well cast, well written, extremely well acted. I loved that I didn't know I was watching past events at the same time as watching present events, and when they met up, it was amazing.

Martian Child

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 27 March 2008 09:34 (A review of Martian Child [DVD] [2007] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC])

While not one of the best movies I have ever seen, or even one of the best John Cusack movies I have seen, Martian Child is not bad. Watchable, cute, with sweet moments, and even a few tear jerker scenes, the movie is pretty well done...although, it is probably going to end up being one of the forgettable titles out there.

Stardust

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 26 March 2008 12:30 (A review of Stardust)

This movie was quite enjoyable. I probably never would have picked it up except that a co-worker recommended it to me, so I checked it out...and I am glad I did.

I didn't like Tristan at first, but that quickly changed, and while corny at times (not to mention downright silly with Robert DeNiro's drag scene), the movie left me with a smile on my face, and I really liked the sword fight near the end of the movie.

Overall, quite good, and one I will probably see again.

The Mist

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 24 March 2008 08:27 (A review of The Mist (Two-Disc Collector's Edition))

When I found out they had made this movie, I looked forward to seeing it. Now that I have seen it, however, I am mostly disappointed. I love the short story this is based on, but for some reason, the movie version fell flat. I did get a kick out of the ending...it made me laugh a bit...but other than that, not much to be impressed with here. Others might enjoy it more if they haven't read the story, or even read it recently.

April Fool's Day (2008)

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 24 March 2008 08:24 (A review of April Fool's Day)

Yes, this is a remake, and the original is much better. Scout Taylor-Compton - who told her she can act? This is the second horror film I have seen her in, and she is just awful.

As far as the movie goes, not bad, definitely NOT the exact same story as the original, nor does it end the same. Taylor Cole does a pretty good job, but I think she was about the only one in the whole movie who seems to know how to actually act.

The original is definitely a better watch.

Capivity

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 20 March 2008 07:44 (A review of Captivity (Unrated Widescreen Edition))

Pretty lame movie. totally predictable, and the tacked on "six months later" at the end of the movie was an unnecessary and completely ridiculous addition to the movie. If it had been left off, the movie would have ended so much better, and been a bit better.

Halloween (2007)

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 20 March 2008 07:43 (A review of Halloween (Unrated Two-Disc Special Edition))

I liked that you got to follow more of the young Michael Myers in this remake, however, the rest of the movie, while filled with violence, sex, nudity, etc..., was nowhere near as good as the original. The actress playing Laurie was just horrible and I found her quite annoying. Most of the reason I even bothered with this film was because I loved that Malcolm McDowell, Udo Kier, Dee Wallace, and Brad Dourif were in it.

Hostel Part II

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 20 March 2008 07:40 (A review of Hostel: Part II (Unrated Widescreen Edition))

As a sequel, this is pretty good. I like that it follows the people behind the torturing/killing more, gives you a bit more to the story for this second movie. A lot was predictable, but this sequel retained a lot of the same feel of the first movie.

I Could Never Be Your Woman

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 20 March 2008 07:39 (A review of I Could Never Be Your Woman)

Very cute and funny movie. I love Paul Rudd and Michelle Pfeiffer together in this movie. A great pairing, and a cute story...plus, the daughter in this movie is also really great.

Enchanted

Posted : 16 years, 1 month ago on 14 March 2008 07:10 (A review of Enchanted (Widescreen Edition))

This is the second time I have seen this movie now, and I think I might try and watch it once more while I still have the DVD. The second time around was just as good as the first time, with the movie losing none of its magic. This is now one of my favourite movies, and one I want to own as well.
