Mad Money

Posted : 15 years, 12 months ago on 8 May 2008 09:41 (A review of Mad Money [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC])

Nothing really special with this one. Just a middle-of-the-road type of comedy. Cute enough, though Katie Holmes is completely talentless (why she ever was allowed to transition from the small screen to the big is beyond me). A good cast, aside from Katie Holmes...decent/watchable story, but not much more to say here. It's a ridiculous story and ends up with a typical happy ending - and a predictable one at that.

The Last Hour

Posted : 15 years, 12 months ago on 5 May 2008 05:55 (A review of The Last Hour)

Absolutely awful. I only watched about 10 minutes, and that was too long to sit through the painfully awful dialogue AND acting. A movie full of cliches and stereotyped characters that is just absolutely terrible. I can't believe I wasted 10 minutes of my time waiting to see if it would get any better from the opening scene, when I knew I was sitting in front of something not worth watching!!

Hottie & the Nottie

Posted : 16 years ago on 1 May 2008 08:57 (A review of Hottie & the Nottie)

Why was this movie even made? To give Paris Hilton something to do? She isn't the "hottie" that the movie claims she is. The sad fact is that the little girl who plays the younger version of Paris' character is SO much prettier than Paris Hilton. The guy chasing Paris Hilton wouldn't have a chance with her, ever, and the acting totally sucks, along with a horrible story, and a completely ridiculous one at that.

Flight of the Living Dead

Posted : 16 years ago on 30 April 2008 01:58 (A review of Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane)

Oh my...this movie has some really bad acting. It feels like a made-for-TV movie with a bunch of actors who don't even seem to know how to act - even though some of them have been seen in other movies, and have shown they CAN act.

I don't know why they did such a poor job with the acting in this movie. It has the potential to be so much better than it is. (I am sitting here watching it right now).

Also, because of the lack of anything truly gory/grusome, I really think this was a made-for-TV movie. I would have loved to have watched a better production of this movie. For what it is, it's watchable, but barely because of the REALLY awful acting jobs done by everyone in the cast.

Into the Wild

Posted : 16 years ago on 27 April 2008 10:00 (A review of Into the Wild)

What a huge tool. That's what kept going through my head as I watched this movie, especially when the movie is done. You know from the beginning of the movie the eventual outcome for the main character, who goes by the stupid name of "Alexander Supertramp", because the sister's voice-over is in the past tense. The only thing I wanted to know was how it happened, and when I saw that, I thought even less of the guy. Are we supposed to have sympathy for this man? I don't understand why this movie had to be made in the first place, nor do I understand why it is so popular, or was when it first came out anyway.

Death Sentence

Posted : 16 years ago on 26 April 2008 09:35 (A review of Death Sentence (Unrated Edition))

Wow - there is a LOT of violence in this movie. Almost too much really. Shocking at times. The acting is only so-so from those around Kevin Bacon, but I like Kevin Bacon in this movie.

Oh, and John Goodman is, as always, completely awesome.

Dead Man's Bounty

Posted : 16 years ago on 25 April 2008 08:10 (A review of Dead Man's Bounty)

A bit slow moving, but very amusing. The drunken sheriff is a disgusting individual, but he is also a really funny character. The "mysterious drifter" is played by Karl Roden, who I last saw in "The Abandoned" (an interesting, but not so great suspense/horror film). Val Kilmer plays the dead body, and that was enough to get me to check this movie out. And I am glad I did. Plus, it's apparently the first Polish Western, plus it doesn't have a lot of dialogue, and has some really interesting shots/scenes.

Bernard and Doris

Posted : 16 years ago on 25 April 2008 09:19 (A review of Bernard & Doris [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC])

Entertaining with dramatic moments...Susan Sarandon and Ralph Fiennes are well matched in this film. It's touching at times, as well as humourous, and the movie also has its sadder moments.

Mr. Brooks

Posted : 16 years ago on 25 April 2008 07:37 (A review of Mr. Brooks)

Surprisingly, a decent movie. Kevin Costner does a good job in his role as Mr. Brooks, but William Hurt is even better, and the two paired together are a lot of fun to watch. Some good twists in the movie, nothing you can't see coming just before it happens, but still good.

The Golden Compass

Posted : 16 years ago on 25 April 2008 05:27 (A review of The Golden Compass (Widescreen Single-Disc Edition))

Overall, a pretty good movie with an excellent cast, both in the flesh, and the voice actors. However, for me, it was quite a disappointment how the movie ended, leaving so much hanging if there is never another movie for this story made (which I heard wasn't going to happen, because the movie didn't do well in theatres). The movie ended on a positive note, but definitely ends with a "to be continued..." feeling.
