Cleaner

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 25 May 2008 11:51 (A review of Cleaner)

I actually didn't have very high expectations for this movie, so I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed Cleaner. Good performances by Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris and Eva Mendes; a good, solid story, Cleaner is actually a quite decent movie.

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 18 May 2008 08:27 (A review of National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets)

I haven't yet seen the first "National Treasure", but I brought the sequel home in order to check it out and be able to recommend it (or not) at work. I wasn't overly impressed with this...though it is entertaining. Just nothing really special, in my opinion.

National Lampoon Presents Cattle Call

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 18 May 2008 04:28 (A review of National Lampoon Presents Cattle Call)

Pretty awful. Feels like a lot of stuff got chopped out of the movie, and the writing is terrible, so the acting is awful.

Nintendo Wii Console

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 14 May 2008 09:20 (A review of Nintendo Wii )

I just bought a Wii less than 12 hours ago, after taking a bit of time to decide which console to buy. The Wii is the cheapest by far, and after a lot of reading (and thinking), I decided on this one, and thankfully managed to find one, since they are so hard for stores to keep in stock! Brought it home with a couple of games and tried it out, and it's great. Quite the workout when playing Wii Sports - definitely not a game you can play while sitting down, which is great, having that encouragement to get off my lazy butt! Looking forward to many long hours of game play, as well as the upcoming Wii Fit :)

The Cottage

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 11 May 2008 09:14 (A review of The Cottage)

Completely awesome. Starts off really well, with lots of humour throughout the entire movie. I thought it was more of a comedy than a horror movie, but then things changed, and I was horrified while still laughing! Some really gruesome scenes, but the whole movie is amazingly good and well done. I want to add this one to my collection.

Walk All Over Me

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 11 May 2008 10:42 (A review of Walk All Over Me)

Nothing overly special here. Entertaining, but just barely, because aside from the completely predictable plot, "Alberta" and her "customer" are annoying characters. Not to mention the idiotic tough guys who are downright stupid and unbelievable. The whole production is wholly unbelievable, but this is somewhat watchable and entertaining at times, despite the utter stupidity.

Youth Without Youth

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 11 May 2008 09:00 (A review of Youth Without Youth)

I had been looking forward to seeing this since I saw it in a magazine of upcoming DVD releases, so the second I had a chance to being a copy home, I did - and I was not disappointed. Interesting story, well cast, and well acted. Tim Roth is excellent in this film.

The Orphanage

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 10 May 2008 10:45 (A review of L'Orphelinat : The Orphanage)

An all-around completely excellent film. I loved The Orphanage and plan to watch it again, soon, when time permits (I always have a stack of new stuff to watch!!). Great suspense, excellent story & acting. Guillermo del Toro is one of my favourites ! A great ending as well, which is a refreshing change from all the crap endings on other movies watched recently.

Untraceable

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 10 May 2008 10:37 (A review of Untraceable)

Completely predictable and more than a little gruesome - deserving of the 18A rating...I sure wouldn't want my child seeing the kind of disturbing murders that take place in this movie. Overall, decent enough and watchable. Not anything special or really new, but definitely not a waste of time to sit down and watch, like so many others are!

Tin Man

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 10 May 2008 10:14 (A review of Tin Man (Two-Disc Collector's Edition))

Quite excellent. I really enjoyed this three-part mini-series from beginning to end. It has great music, a great cast, story, and references back to the classic Wizard of Oz.
