The Evil Dead

Posted : 15 years, 5 months ago on 7 November 2008 07:39 (A review of The Evil Dead)

Yes, the effects in this movie are quite bad...but that doesn't change the fact that The Evil Dead is one of the most popular classic horror films out there, and still capable of giving a bit of a scare even after repeated viewings.

Bruce Campbell is completely awesome, and I can't wait to re-watch the other two movies in this series. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell, when they all get together, turn out some amazing work :)

Charmed - The Complete Third Season

Posted : 15 years, 5 months ago on 7 November 2008 07:24 (A review of Charmed - The Complete Third Season)

Watching the third season yet again, it's kind of disappointing to really notice just how cheesy the show gets as more time passes. Julian McMahon makes the show worth sticking around for, but even that is barely enough, with the kind of crappy show stories for each episode.

But the end of the season brings the death of Shannen Doherty's character, and as I recall, I enjoyed the show a whole lot more after she was gone! Definitely won't be re-watching this whole series anytime soon - and the next time I do, it will probably be really, really bad compared to what's out there!

Feast II: Sloppy Seconds

Posted : 15 years, 6 months ago on 1 November 2008 07:09 (A review of Feast II: Sloppy Seconds (Unrated))

this sequel to an awesome first movie is definitely not as good as the original, but at least it's done with the same humour, a couple of the same actors from the first, and with a story that is written in exactly the same mannercas the first, with all the gruesome action, bad jokes and lots of gory deaths. And, just like in the first movie, each character gets an intro...and it looks like there might be a third movie in the works, based on how this one ends. Feast II is good B-movie bad fun and worth watching if you enjoyed the first movie. Tons of blood, with bare breasts for no good reason...and even a fart joke thrown in with alien and human penises as well...who can resist?

Get Smart

Posted : 15 years, 6 months ago on 1 November 2008 06:39 (A review of Get Smart (Single-Disc Widescreen Edition))

I love the original series of "Get Smart", so I was really looking forward to seeing this new movie, and I wasn't disappointed at all. Utterly ridiculous, but with a great cast and a script that includes elements of the original show, "Get Smart" is an excellent comedy, and one that I will be adding to my collection for sure. Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell are perfect as agents 99 and 86, and I hope they make another movie.

Kung Fu Panda

Posted : 15 years, 6 months ago on 1 November 2008 06:30 (A review of Kung Fu Panda )

While not completely awesome, Kung Fu Panda is sure to be a huge hit with families, especially since this is probably the best family movie I have seen come out on DVD on months. Why it has a special release date of next Friday, I don't understand, but that is sure to be one busy weekend in stores! Kung Fu Panda has a great cast, a good story, and is lots of fun to watch. It is a it violent for an animated feature however, and I am still trying to decide whether to let my young child watch it.

Zombie Strippers

Posted : 15 years, 6 months ago on 29 October 2008 09:26 (A review of Zombie Strippers (Unrated Special Edition))

This movie is extremely bad. Bad acting, bad story...just bad. But kind of awesome in a really, really bad way. Gruesome, ridiculously stupid, but entertaining, nonetheless...if you can stand the ridiculously bad...well, everything about this movie!

The Strangers

Posted : 15 years, 6 months ago on 20 October 2008 09:34 (A review of The Strangers)

This fillm has excellent suspense (I watched the unrated version). From the opening scene to the final one, I was on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what was going to happen next. This is well done...and I don't understand why people are saying it sucks, because it sure doesn't! I love horror movies, and the ones being churned out these days are all sub-standard, with little suspense, bad stories, bad acting, etc. The Strangers has a good story, is packed with suspense, and it well acted. One of the most frightening things about this movie is, of course, the "strangers"...excellent scary movie bad guys. A great horror/suspense release, in time for Hallowe'en :)

An American Crime

Posted : 15 years, 6 months ago on 18 October 2008 09:47 (A review of An American Crime)

Brutal and very hard to watch though this may be, it's well worth watching. It's horrific and unsettling, that one person could do something so awful to someone, let alone a whole group of people, but this film does an excellent job of telling the story, based on a real event and testimony from the trial of Gertrude Baniszewski, a single mom with way too many children, who has absolutely no excuse for treating a young girl (Sylvia Likens, played by Ellen Page) the way she does.

Charmed season 2

Posted : 15 years, 6 months ago on 18 October 2008 07:38 (A review of Charmed - The Complete Second Season)

This show definitely gets cheesier and sillier each time I watch it...and the more time that passes, making it look (effect-wise) not that great. I love this show, but even I, watching the early seasons years after it initially aired, find it a bit hard to watch, in terms of all the fighting scenes. The other stories, the ones that focus on the sisters' personal lives are still pretty decent, but the writing on this show is not great to begin with, making it definitely harder and harder to watch as time goes by.

I still love the show, but I think it will be a LONG time before I sit down to watch the entire series again.

The Incredible Hulk

Posted : 15 years, 6 months ago on 18 October 2008 07:33 (A review of The Incredible Hulk)

I loved the cameos by Stan Lee and Lou Ferrigno, both brought a smile to my face :)

I never saw the first movie, and was told I didn't need to see it, in order to see this one, which turns out to be true. I enjoyed this movie, right down to the final scene, where Tony Stark (from Iron Man) shows up. Robert Downey, Jr. is awesome. I had heard such terrible things about the first Hulk movie, and even saw only about five minutes once upon a time (and didn't like what I saw), and then I heard bad things about this one, but I don't agree with anything I heard. This movie is high action, lots of shooting and fighting. Some not so great moments, but overall, quite a decent movie.
