Pee-wee's Big Adventure review

"Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" is completely ridiculous, but...completely awesome. It had been many years since I last watched this, but I once again thoroughly enjoyed it. Paul Reubens is a comic genius, paired with Tim Burton, Phil Hartman, and Danny Elfman, I don't know how anyone couldn't enjoy it, and get a few laughs out of it. I am very much looking forward to the new Pee-Wee movie that's on the horizon!

A Boy and His Dog review

This is such an odd movie, starting with one brutal act, and ending with another...and full of even more. I enjoyed this movie, despite the totally twisted and bizarre story, and really want to get my hands on the story it was based on. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes post-apocalyptic survival type movies. This is one I kind of want to add to my permanent collection, and will definitely watch again.

Open House review

"Open House" is a movie I started and never finished last year. I didn't have much interest in finishing it, but finally decided I should. Overall, it's not completely terrible, but I did not like Brian Geraghty ("David"), he just looked really odd every time he was on screen, which was often. I was glad that Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer were killed off quite early on, as she really annoys me in general, and I didn't really think either of them were any good. Tricia Helfer was decent enough, the script was okay, and the movie was definitely better than a lot of horror/suspense movies I have endured lately. However, as a whole, it adds nothing to the genre, it's not one you're likely to remember or care to watch, none of the actors really stood out, and I know most of them are capable of better. And the way it all ended, really...disappointing.

Road Kill review

Yet another movie I wish I hadn't seen. I don't know what's with the disappointing run of horror movies of late, but I definitely do not recommend that anybody, ever, watch this. And I generally enjoy even badly done horror movies, for the entertainment factor, but there was none of that to be found here. Perhaps if it were done so there was some kind of better explanation as to just what the heck was going on, it would have been better, more enjoyable, but the script was terrible, the acting...terrible, and I just suffered through it until the end, hoping it would get better, but it just never did.
Avoid this movie. Choose something else. You'll be glad you did.

Siren review

Awful. Pure garbage. I really don't have more to say about this other than that, and if you think you might want to watch it based on the description, trust me, take a pass and move on. There are other, better movies, even ones that are just marginally better, are more worth the time and effort than this. That is time spent that I wish I could have back, and a movie I wish I could scrub from my brain.

Quarantine 2: Terminal review

When I found out there was a sequel to "Quarantine", despite the fact that it was direct-to-DVD, I decided I had to see it. What a huge mistake that was. They tried to make it in the same fashion as the first one, a bunch of people trapped with no escape, all eventually being bitten and exposed to the rabies virus....but this sequel definitely fell flat. A bunch of people I have never seen were cast in this, all except for Josh Cooke, who I have recently seen in a newer TV show, and not one of them did a good job. The story was terrible, trying to mimic almost exactly the original, just in a different setting. Not once was I scared, or really interested in seeing anyone get out alive, but I sat through it just to finish it, despite the completely predictable, terrible plot, and if they make a third movie, I will not want to suffer through it. They should have left it alone at the first one instead of wasting the money and people's time to watch it.

Quarantine review

Having seen both this and the original ("Rec"), I can say that I enjoyed the original much more, despite the fact that this remake was, scene for scene, exactly the same, and without the badly done English subtitles. However, I just watched "Quarantine" for the second time, upon learning about a sequel, and still enjoyed it enough to sit through it. As a horror/thriller type of movie, it's not bad, fairly decent, not one to own, or even watch multiple times, because once you know how it turns out, there's no way that, two years later, watching it again, there's enough you have forgotten from the first time around, to really give you a good scare or thrill. But the first time around, the movie did have some moments where I was wondering what was going to happen next, and I was engaged and wanted to see the whole thing. "Rec", however, was better, probably because it was acted better.

Buried (2010) review

I had never heard of this, watched it only purely because Ryan Reynolds was in it, but...in spite of some pretty unbelievable plot points, I still quite enjoyed the movie. As I don't believe in posting anything that contains spoilers, let's just say that, some of the things Ryan Reynolds discovers in the coffin with him, how long they last for, is highly unlikely, but if you suspend belief and just watch the movie for what it is, it's pretty well done. Ryan Reynolds carries most of the movie anyway, and as that's what brought me to it in the first place, I wasn't disappointed. Yes, I laughed at some of the more unbelievable stuff, but...I can't really easily suspend belief :)

Green Lantern review

I was super excited to see this movie, went and saw it in all the 3D glory, but I have to say, I was very, very disappointed in the casting choice of Blake Lively for Ryan Reynolds' love interest. Any scene with just the two of them was dull, badly written, and just fell flat. She was terrible in this, could have done without her. Any female actress would have done a better job than her, I think. If there's a sequel, I hope they leave her out of it.
Aside from that, and the overall predictability of the movie, I really enjoyed this, and look forward to watching it again...and probably again. Though not as good as "Iron Man", I definitely enjoyed it, then again, I am a big Ryan Reynolds fan, and I love super hero movies on top of that.

Something Borrowed review

Well, "Something Borrowed" was about what I expected it to be. Kate Hudson's character (or maybe it's just her), was totally annoying, rude, and selfish from the start of the movie through to the end. I didn't understand why Ginnifer Goodwin's character would spend her life being saddled with such a shallow, poor excuse for a human being as a friend, someone who just takes what she wants and walks all over anyone who will let her. On the surface, however, this is, for anyone a fan of romantic comedies, a decent enough attempt, but sure a far cry from "He's Just Not That Into You", which I really enjoyed (and I am not a huge fan of rom com).
