HIP HOP ABS Package - Fat Burning Cardio, Ab Sculpt, Total Body Burn, Secrets to Flat Abs review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 15 September 2011 01:57 (A review of HIP HOP ABS Package - Fat Burning Cardio, Ab Sculpt, Total Body Burn, Secrets to Flat Abs)

This is a fantastic, full body workout program. It might be called Hip Hop Abs, but it definitely works for the entire body, not just the abs. Shaun T is fun to follow, he doesn't just talk you through the workouts, you watch him sweat right along with everyone in his group, and with you. And before you're even halfway through a routine, you are dripping with sweat, but having so much fun, time just flies, and the results show quickly.

Awkward. review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 14 September 2011 11:23 (A review of Awkward.)

Very smart, well written and well cast show, which is refreshing amongst a sea of badly written, crappy teenage centred shows out there. I look forward to each new episode, and am disappointed that they are over so quickly. I hope this show has a long run, as it is very entertaining, and the characters are very likeable, drawing you in and bringing you back each week.

The Resident review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 6 September 2011 02:14 (A review of The Resident)

My exact reaction upon seeing the end of this movie was, "Well, that was stupid". What a horrible piece of garbage, totally predictable, not well done/written at all. Initially, you would think, seeing that Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Lee Pace, and Christopher Lee are all in this, that it would be a good movie, well worth the time spent watching it.

But no, that is one assumption that is terribly incorrect. This type of plot is over-done, and really, if another movie is going to be churned out of this type, it should at least be something really and truly worth watching, not some piece of garbage you're going to regret spending your money to see. I don't know who the people are who decided this should be made into a movie in the first place, but they should be fired.

Faster review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 5 September 2011 10:35 (A review of Faster)

This movie, in my opinion, is totally forgettable. Sure, it's action, but it's just not good writing, totally predictable, from start to finish. Dwayne Johnson, if I didn't know he was capable of better, gives a pretty sub-par performance, Billy Bob Thornton isn't great, nor is Carla Gugino. The scene I liked most came almost at the end of the movie, and I think I liked the interaction between the Killer and his girlfriend/wife a lot better than anything else in the whole movie. The story plods along, coming to a fairly predictable finish, and the whole movie is just a waste of time, as it's not one you're bound to remember or rave about after having seen it.

Switchcraft review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 5 September 2011 10:58 (A review of Switchcraft)

It has taken me well over a year to finally read this all the way through, cover to cover. There is a quote on the top of the front cover saying that Mary Castillo Is "One of the nation's top young writers...". I shudder to think, if this is true, what the other top writers are producing, because this book is bubblegum fluff crap. Utterly predictable, and it was rough to read for any length of time, as the writing itself was just not that good. I could only read maybe 20 pages at a go, and that felt like work, and reading should be fun and enjoyable, not something that leaves you feeling like you're fighting just to make it through a story.

Why did I bother finishing it? Because I paid my money to buy the book (thankfully, it was only about $4), and I was determined to actually finish it! But, boy, do I regret having ever picked the book up in the first place, and I usually love stories where people do the whole body-switching thing. This was awful.

Cedar Rapids review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 5 September 2011 09:48 (A review of Cedar Rapids)

Having never heard of this prior to watching it, I had no set expectations of the movie when I pushed play. And, surprisingly, this movie was very amusing, smart, well written, acted, and cast. It's a slower paced comedy, but an intelligent one. Ed Helms plays a man who has a pretty sheltered and quiet life, and unexpectedly goes to the "big city" for a conference, where he encounters different characters that shake up his life in very entertaining ways.

The cast is awesome, including Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Root, Kurtwood Smith, Alia Shawkat, Rob Corddry, John C. Reilly, and Anne Heche.

Chaos Theory review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 5 September 2011 09:36 (A review of Chaos Theory)

While I do not understand why Emily Mortimer was used in this (I find her annoying in general), the rest of the casting was done really well. Ryan Reynolds does a great job with his role of a man who has his whole life shaken up after a bizarre (and comical) set of circumstances reveals a serious and life-changing fact to him.

How he deals with this revelation, and his family and closest friend deals with it, is both entertaining, and a bit moving. When I first saw this movie, I recommended it to a lot of people while I worked in a video store. None came back with any complaints over the choice, but I think it's now become a lesser known title overall, which is a shame, because it's a pretty solid movie.

Take Me Home Tonight review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 5 September 2011 07:40 (A review of Take Me Home Tonight)

I knew absolutely nothing about this movie other than that it starred Topher Grace and Anna Faris (cast as twin brother and sister in this), before watching it. I was first wary of yet another movie set in the 1980s (although I did love the fact that their high school was called Shermer), because there are so many out there already.

However, this was a pretty good comedy/romantic comedy. It had some great moments, even though everything was completely predictable, and it all works out in the end (would you expect anything less)? Very cute, entertaining, with some well known faces in some of the smaller roles (Lucy Punch, Michael Biehn, Michelle Trachtenberg, Angie Everhart, to name a few).

The Crazies review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 5 September 2011 04:06 (A review of The Crazies )

I haven't seen the original film, but this is one re-make that is very well done! It's an excellent thriller/horror/suspense movie from start to finish, and it's also one you can re-watch as well. I really like both Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell, and the pairing of these two actors in this horror film was a good idea, even though Timothy Olyphant basically steals the whole show.

Not too gory, just enough blood when it's necessary for a scene, realistic terror-filled scenes as a small town goes crazy and the sheriff tries to figure out what's going on. This one keeps my heart pounding while I watch it, that's for sure!

Captain America: The First Avenger review

Posted : 12 years, 7 months ago on 5 September 2011 03:47 (A review of Captain America: The First Avenger)

I have been excited about seeing this for months, but to be honest, once I finally sat down to watch it, I really only gave it about 50% of my attention, and perhaps that's because I was watching a downloaded cam version. The special effects were good, the casting good, the writing good, but stacked up against "Iron Man", this movie isn't as entertaining. I like Chris Evans in the role of Captain America, but something is lacking in this, and I don't know what, but it was enough to keep me from even being interested in paying full attention.

When it comes out on DVD, I will watch it again for sure, but I hope The Avengers movie that follows this is better, much much better.
