2 Broke Girls review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 22 September 2011 12:49 (A review of 2 Broke Girls)

Pretty good show for a new sitcom in the 2011 fall season. When the pilot first began, I thought I probably wouldn't like it, but I stuck it out and found myself enjoying it. This show isn't the best thing out there, but it's far from the worst. Although, I don't know if it will last - Kat Dennings' dry, sarcastic, pessimistic attitude is a lot to take in sometimes. But aside from that, overall, pretty decent show, and I hope it remains that way.

NewsRadio review

I sat down and began watching this show from the start again recently (I have seen it many, many times years ago when it was still airing all the time on TV), and I forgot how great the show is. I love Dave Foley and Stephen Root, and of course, Phil Hartman. It's got a great cast, great writing, and stayed pretty strong throughout it's run. A good comedy to watch and watch again.

Early Edition review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 20 September 2011 11:51 (A review of Early Edition)

I remember watching this when it first aired, and enjoying it, but only barely enjoying it. Upon re-watching it, I find it even harder to sit through. Fisher Stevens is just annoying, the show is a bit dated (though, to be honest, that's where the bulk of my enjoyment comes from), the show feels sluggish and hard to sit through. Kyle Chandler is okay, but his two co-stars are just not great. The guest stars, seeing some pretty well-known faces when they were much younger, are fun to see, but...I can sure see why the show ended early. It's just forgettable and not overly well done.

The Playboy Club review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 20 September 2011 09:21 (A review of The Playboy Club)

Having only seen the pilot so far, the show had a decent, strong start (although the ending did cut off a bit too abruptly for my liking...). A good cast, despite the annoying and not that talented Jenna Dewan, good writing so far, enough to bring me back and watch at least the second episode. Other than that, it's nothing I would likely watch again and again, though that might change as the series grows (if it sticks around).

Just a good, decent show to pass the time on a Monday night.

Prison Break: The Final Break review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 19 September 2011 03:31 (A review of Prison Break: The Final Break)

After finally ending the show on a pretty good note, they had to go and do this? It wasn't really necessary at all, though it was pretty well done, but it just seemed completely unnecessary, as we knew Michael was dead at the end of the series...doesn't really seem to be necessary to know how and why. They could have left the show as they ended it in the final episode, that was a great ending.

They did make this however, and it is decently entertaining, but I just found it a very long, drawn out, repetitive (how many times do we need to see them break someone out of prison? Seriously....too much) story that I was glad to see finally end.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 18 September 2011 08:45 (A review of Beneath the Planet of the Apes)

Okay, so the first half of this movie is a decent sequel to the first...but then, once in the Forbidden Zone with the more evolved humans, things go terribly wrong, which is also when they bring Charlton Heston back into the story. The movie quickly falls into garbage and badly written story line from this point on, ending pretty quickly afterward.

But before that, it's not bad, follows very well on the heels of the first, although it is very much like the first, and the actor cast as Brent is very close in appearance to Charlton Heston. But the story is good, in the beginning, with more of the themes of discrimination, needless invasion/war. It's just a shame, it tanks quickly after that.

The Wrong Coast [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.4 Import - Australia ] review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 18 September 2011 02:52 (A review of The Wrong Coast [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.4 Import - Australia ])

Why do Canadian shows mostly have to be terrible? The Wrong Coast is boring, and not good, or funny, at all. I watched one episode, and that was a hard 20+ minutes to have to endure, and I sure didn't want to keep watching but I did just to give it a fair chance. Ugh, I wish i hadn't, and it's no wonder it only has one partial season.

Planet of the Apes review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 17 September 2011 11:28 (A review of Planet of the Apes)

I love this movie. The original, and first movie of a pretty decent series of movies, is great to watch, and re-watch, time and time again. There is a great moment during the deposition/trial scene, where the 3 apes sitting behind the desk are basically doing the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil"...and it lasts a bit. I just noticed this for the first time watching the movie today, for about my 15th time seeing it. Always something new to discover.

It's a great film, a classic one, to watch (yes the re-make is more current and has better effects), a good story of discrimination, experimentation, close-mindedness, religion dominating over scientific fact.

Death Valley review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 17 September 2011 05:23 (A review of Death Valley)

I had no idea this was a comedy when I sat down to watch it! I read a very brief synopsis of the show and thought it was more of a drama from reading that! When the show opened, I was surprised, and pleased, to see that it was actually a comedy, and I found myself laughing a lot during the pilot. The show clearly has a low budget for the effects and fight scenes, etc. but it's entertaining nevertheless. Good for a half hour or less to blow watching something light :)

I Love You, Phillip Morris review

Posted : 13 years, 3 months ago on 15 September 2011 02:04 (A review of I Love You, Phillip Morris)

I sat down to watch this knowing absolutely nothing about it, other than that Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor were in it (good pairing too!!). When the major revelation about Jim Carrey's character came, I laughed so hard, not because I was surprised (I was, it was a little unexpected), but because of how it was done. The movie is smart, funny, definitely entertaining, but also has its serious moments as well. Very well done, great job by Jim Carrey, and Ewan McGregor. I intend to own this and watch it a few more times for sure!
