This third installment in the Transformers story pretty much sucks. The story, that is. What saves it? The awesome Michael Bay action sequences, for one. He sure doesn't disappoint when it comes to the big budget, well done action sequences. Next, the cast, which includes Leonard Nimoy, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey, Ken Jeong, John Malkovich, Alan Tudyk, and Frances McDormand.
The story without these other elements, and Shia LaBeouf once again getting a girl completely out of his league, is just barely watchable. I had to pause it several times just to have a bit of a break, before continuing on. I only kept watching it because of the cast that are mentioned above. Oh, and the action sequences.
The rest, I really don't care for. The girl playing the love interest this time is tolerable, but the script, I think, just leaves a lot to be desired, and I am sure glad I didn't waste my money to either see this in theatre, or to watch it at home.

Bad Teacher review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 17 October 2011 03:43 (A review of Bad Teacher)Overall, just a halfway decent comedy to sit down, enjoy, then completely forget about. Mostly decent script, cast, and acting, the movie actually generates some laughs, but it isn't anything spectacular. Cameron Diaz' character's quest for a breast enlargement sees her going to some amusing lengths to raise the needed cash, but overall, the message that women need big breasts to get a decent guy is pretty disgusting.
Jason Segel was good, Justin Timberlake did a decent job as well. Lucy Punch was fantastic in her role, and Cameron Diaz did a better job here than she did in "Green Hornet". Completely predictable, yet enjoyable enough to watch start to finish, but as I say, totally forgettable.

Enlightened review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 17 October 2011 01:21 (A review of Enlightened)Based solely on the pilot, I can honestly say, I don't much care for this show so far. It just seems like a total space filler, not bringing much new or interesting to the TV world, and overall, it does nothing to draw you in or keep you interested and wanting to watch more of it.

The Hangover review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 17 October 2011 12:12 (A review of The Hangover)I just watched "The Hangover" for about the sixth time last night, and while I knew everything that was going to happen, every line that was coming (and quoted along with the movie at times), I still find myself laughing just as hard at this movie as I did the day I saw it in theatre. Overall, a top notch comedy, very well done, awesome cast. I love Zach Galifianakis. I think, without him, the movie wouldn't have been as awesome as it is, because Zach does a fantastic job with his role as an awkward weirdo who just doesn't care what people think about him.
Such a great film, definitely one to watch over and over again, and one of my favourite comedies, for sure. I love the inclusion of Jeffrey Tambor and Ken Jeong. Heather Graham, I could have done without, but she's really the only thing I don't completely enjoy about this movie. The writing was excellent, the delivery of the lines fantastic, and I will never get tired of seeing this one, time and time again.

Bridesmaids review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 17 October 2011 12:07 (A review of Bridesmaids)What a mess. Totally awful, terrible, bad writing for the most part. The main characters had awful lines, the whole thing was 100% utterly predictable, and the smaller characters (Megan, Ted), had MUCH better lines/parts. I had expected good things out of this film, after hearing so many good reviews, but not even 10 minutes into it, we were considering shutting it off and watching "The Hangover" (which was watched afterward, to clear our heads of the trash we had just finished watching).
Maya Rudolph is not a good actress, Kristen Wiig is just annoying in her role, and even the smaller roles that are better written and played by big names/familiar faces, do NOT in any way save this film. Melissa McCarthy does a fantastic job with her role, and Jon Hamm is also pretty good. Chris O'Dowd, I did like, but again, a smaller part and the main character's love interest. The random, and few, funny bits of this movie were mostly funny an in awkward-I-can't-believe-they-just-did-that fashion.
Really, no one should waste their time watching this. Just watch "The Hangover" if you want a good pre-wedding comedy. "Bridesmaids" doesn't come close to being even a fraction as good. And yet, it was called the female version of "The Hangover"?? On what planet would this ever be true? The two are nothing alike, and "Bridesmaids" really just spends a lot of time slamming men and their sex organs, and making women look like crazy bitches.

Horrible Bosses review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 15 October 2011 06:08 (A review of Horrible Bosses)I found this more than mildly entertaining most of the time. I love Jason Bateman, so I will pretty much watch anything he's in. Same goes for Kevin Spacey. I loved him in this. Jennifer Aniston...well, to be honest, I didn't much care for her in this. I think her character could have been played by anyone (and was it just me? she was looking pretty rough, I thought).
Charlie Day, I also think, could have been anyone cast alongside Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis. I do quite enjoy the fact that John Francis Daley was one of the people involved with the screenplay, as I have watched him grow up on screen, and really like him as an actor. This screenplay, not terrible, not the absolute best thing I have seen, but definitely, very entertaining, it stays relatively strong from start to finish. I think it's mostly some casting choices that detract from this for me.
I love that Donald Sutherland, Julie Bowen, and Bob Newhart all make appearances, as well as Jamie Foxx. Great stuff. P.J. Byrne (who??)'s character was a touch too much, I think they carried his initial scene too far by just a hair, but overall, good, solid entertainment.

American Horror Story review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 15 October 2011 06:01 (A review of American Horror Story)I just watched the pilot for this, and I am very much looking forward to the next episode(s). Knowing that this show airs on FX, which has introduced me to a lot of my favourite shows (including Sons of Anarchy, The League, and True Blood), and that Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck, also a favourite) has a hand in it, had me hoping this show would be another great one to watch. And so far, I have not been disappointed. I am definitely intrigued, I think the casting and writing are very well done, this is a superb start for a new show, and I hope it just keeps getting better and better.
I love that Frances Conroy is even a part of the show (so far), and the little bits and pieces of bigger mysteries, or THE bigger mystery that were dropped all throughout the pilot, were introduced very well, not too much, not hokey, quite perfect. And Jessica Lange is awesome, I am glad she's in this as well. The right mix of scary, suspense, drama, and violence, I think. Then again, I love horror/suspense, and this is pretty darn good stuff!

Up All Night review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 15 October 2011 12:03 (A review of Up All Night)Another half-decent sitcom. Another show Lorne Michaels has his name on, and of course, there are some SNL actors on it. I don't much care for Maya Rudolph, I have always found her to be quite annoying, so I wish they had chosen anyone else for the high maintenance talk show host, but Christina Applegate and Will Arnett are a solid pairing.
Not much else to say about this. It's sometimes funny, though I wish it could be funnier more of the time (I think Maya Rudolph ruins it), worth watching, then walking away and probably forgetting what you just saw an hour later. Filler, fluff, that kind of a show. Might not last, but you never know what the TV audience will choose, what the networks will choose to keep and what to toss, so it just might survive.

Last Man Standing review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 14 October 2011 11:24 (A review of Last Man Standing)Having only watched the pilot so far, I can say, this is a half decent show (so far). I love Nancy Travis, Tim Allen grew on me after a long time (I refused to watch "Home Improvement" for a long time, then caught it in re-runs). Add in Hector Elizondo, who is a long-standing, well known, familiar face, and that's a solid basis for this cast.
The actresses playing the daughters, I honestly don't care for. The only one I like so far is Kaitlyn Deaver. The other two are just dull/flat. Solid start to the show, hope it gets to keep running. This time, Tim Allen is surrounded by daughters, instead of sons, and he still does a job that a manly man would do, and it's, yes, on ABC. Guess they had a good thing going the first time around, made a few tweaks, and are hoping it will still hold up this time around!
I kind of hope it does too. It's a good show to fill the time with, not one I see myself re-watching, or owning, but good to sit down and watch, enjoy, and then move on to something else :)

Unforgettable review
Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 11 October 2011 03:37 (A review of Unforgettable)Semi-decent, but certainly not edge-of-your-seat, riveting drama, "Unforgettable" is somewhat intriguing, but I don't know that it will survive, because it's a little dull, with a lot of flashbacks, a mystery that they probably intend to take at least a season to solve through the very over-used flashbacks. And those flashbacks won't lessen, as this is a show about a woman who can't forget anything, and they rely on her memory for details, little ones, so you get flash after flash. It gets a little tedious, boring, and to be too much.
